1918 At Parvillers, Sgt. Robert Spall (12-13 Aug) of the Princess Patricia's Light Infantry sacrificed his life in order to extricate his platoon from a difficult situation, and his bravery allowed his men to be saved. For his actions Sgt. Spall earned the Victoria Cross. (Posthumous).
