Asking for assistance if anyone would know the serial number of this Spitfire:

Spitfire, Unknown, June 12, 1943, RCAF, 412 Squadron

Pilot: Sqdn Ldr G.C. Keefer (DSO,DFC), RCAF

Aircraft was severely damaged and he had to bail out over the English Channel and landed within a mile of the French coast. He inflated his dinghy and spent the next six hours frantically paddling toward the English shoreline. He was eventually picked up and arrived safely in Britain.

Cheers

George

George, found the record........date was actually 27 July 1943

Aircraft was EN784, it developed a Glycol leak and he had to abandon the aircraft.

I was reading up on all the info that I could find on this Warrior, Sqdn Ldr G.C. Keefer, It seems that he is another one of those Warriors that we get to "Share" 2 DSO's and 2 DFC's, neither of which they were handing out like candy ! Thank you for the info and the correction of the date ! Hope all is well with you, and "Thank You" as always for helping get the stories right !

Cheers

George
