In addition to the 131,553 aircrew trained in British Commonwealth Air Training Plan schools, 5,296 Royal Air Force and Fleet Air Arm personnel were trained in Canada in Royal Air Force schools prior to July 1, 1942. “For all practical purposes [the Royal Air Force schools] formed an extension of the BCATP but were not officially incorporated as part of [the BCATP] until July 1942.” (F.J.
