Stone at Tyne Cot Cemetery
I have a soldier John Herbert Wilson #820377 who is buried in Tyne Cot Cemetery, Belgium. Engraved on the top of his stone is "Believed to be buried in this cemetery". Is this common? I can't find anything online explaining this. Thank you.
Re: Stone at Tyne Cot Cemetery
Years of fighting in the same area led to known graves being disturbed/destroyed. Known as a 'Special Memorial', they are mentioned briefly on the CWGC.org page for Tyne Cot, there are a significant number there. If you look him up on that site, you may be able to piece together a bit more through the Grave Registers on his page that show info on burials/reburials.
