WW1 Medal (M.M.)
Hello. We recently came across our Grandfather's WW1 Discharge Certificate. We found his service records and the diaries for his battalion on the Library and Archives website, which have been digitized (amazing). There is a notation of 'M.M.' in red, on his Discharge Certificate. Can anyone tell us what this refers to? We are assuming 'Military Medal', but wondering if it could be a general service military medal? We haven't been able to locate any reference in his service records to explain what this medal was awarded for.
Any information would be appreciated.
Name: Arthur Rochon, Private
Unit: 38th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force
Service Number: 410607
Thank you.

It is mostly “likely” seem to me a Military Medal……but let me search his records and see what I can find
Re: WW1 Medal (M.M.)
Looked thru his records, the documents below CONFIRM he was AWARED a MILITARY MEDAL.
Let me also check the London Gazette, it should also be their.
BUT, I do NOT see it mentioned on his Discharge Certificate…..unless you have another document……but he was Awarded the medal

Thank you Temujin. We will definitely follow up to order a copy of the record, in the hopes that there may be more information available, however the information you have already provided is simply amazing. We will let you know how we make out. We are fortunate to have pictures of him with his unit, and now a little bit of history to go along with them. Once again, thank you, so much.

Re: WW1 Medal (M.M.)
Here are the war diary pages for the Action that we believe his MM was awarded. His name is not mentioned. Also, from his records he seems to have been in “C” Company……..and he was also used as a “runner” (messenger) at one point.
I”ve also include the “orders” for the advance to their “jump off positions”
