The number inside of the Square “could” represent the TROOP NUMBER of that tank.......it the photo you posted instance, “B” Squadron, 3 Troop

And as you see from the above reference, some units painted the inside of the Marking “black”

Unfortunately to date we have not had any success in deciphering the dual square tactical symbols on the turret. We know the square means B Sqn but why two?

FYI, HOLY ROLLER went to B Sqn OC's call sign on or around D+5. We have found this through several of the veterans information we have received and they all coordinate and support each other. No doubt with the amount of tanks the Regiment was loosing, Maj White sent his callsign forward as a replacement to the sabre troops and their HOLY ROLLER stayed until the end.
