Since he was attached to 2 HAA Regt as a driver I would think he went overseas with them in the same convoy. I'll check the diaries for the dates when 2 HAA went over to the UK to see if they match his service record.

And here's a photo of a 47 General Transport Company Mack truck:

Actually, anything you can give me on his dates of transfer between units etc. Their are war diaries available for other units, and i might be able to find info on him. Also, you said he “embarked” for England on the 12th Dec 1941....and you thought it was convoy HX164. This convoy “left” Halifax on the 8th Dec.....so not sure he would have been on this convoy. Again, his records may give me clues.

But of course, your call. If you’d rather share the information privately, you can always PM me on this site with your e-mail, and then I can respond directly back to you and not put anything up on this site. Your decision.....were here to help

Cheers
In that case, I will add those now. I do not mind sharing info on here, as it may help others.
Enlisted: June 26, 1941, at Sherbrooke, Quebec.
September 30, 1941: Transferred to A19 Camp Borden, Ontario.
November 1, 1941: Joins 2nd Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Section RCASC.
November 22, 1941-November 30, 1941: Granted Embarkation Leave.
December 12, 1941: SOS Canadian Army Canada
December 13, 1941: Taken on Strength Canadian Army Overseas.
December 23, 1941: Disembarked in England.
December 24, 1941: Attached to 1st Canadian Base Transit Depot
January 14, 1942: Rejoins the 2nd Heavy AA.
April 30, 1942: Transferred to RCASC Reinforcement Unit
May 8, 1943: Transferred to 61st Canadian General Transport Company This unit becomes No. 47 Transport, which he is assigned to until the end of the war, except for minor periods of time away.

Not sure if he was still with the 2nd HAA Regt when he went to England? The 2nd HAA arrived in England in Sept 41, and he didn’t arrive until Dec 41.....but it’s still possible. Still looking

I thought it strange that he did not sail with the unit as well, but in the records, he was never transferred, just given embarkation leave. Thank you for the photo!

You are correct Filip. The records indicate that he was with the 2nd HAA Regt (except for a “few” attachments to other units for a short time frame) until 1st Apr 1942.

I’m still looking to see if I can find him on a “embarkation nominal roll”.....but haven’t found it yet

I would love to know what ship he sailed on, so thank you for checking!
