Post by georgetanksherman » Mon Apr 20, 2020 6:31 pm

Greetings everyone, hope everyone is safe and healthy, looking at a long shot, wondering if anyone can help with the crew positions on this aircraft, I have search high and low, got all the info, but can not find what position each held, and then there was 5 on board ??? I believe normal crew was 3 maybe 4 at best. This is what I have

Beaufort, DW938, August 26, 1943

Aircraft took off from an airfield in Trincomalee, Ceylon on a training flight, aircraft while in flight suffered structural failure Northeast of Ceylon, causing the aircraft to crash killing all on board the aircraft.

Crew: Positions not known
F/O C. Watson, J/9676, RCAF, Van Dyke, Michigan, U.S.A.
F/O S.G. Wallis, 120342, RAFVR, Lomas de Zomora, Argentina
F/O R. Lund, 125152, RAFVR, York, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom
Sgt F. Plows, 1307375, RAFVR, York, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom
Sgt P. Walmsley, 1188194, RAFVR, Stamford, Lincolnshire United Kingdom

Appreciate any and all help,

Cheers

Thank You Temujin, not just for the positions but for clarifying what happened, all the stories that I read about the incident said it was aircraft structural failure, but it seems like it was not, from the climb to the nose over and dived in kinda sounds like a stall ! Thank You as always, I looked all over for the positions and just could not find them !

Hope you and your family are safe and well, and we send our Thoughts and Prayers to those in the Nova Scotia shooting !
