X Lists in Canadian Military Records

While doing research on Canadian Military records, many times you will see a “statement” TOS X-4, or some other X-?

The X-List where a “paper trail” type of notation in a service file. Usually a man or woman was placed on an “X LIST” when he/she was NOT a part of a organized Army unit, such as an Infantry Battalion, or Engineers, or ANY unit in the Canadian Army.

These may be for various reason, such as finishing training....or part of a “reinforcement unit”.......sick in hospital.......wounded.......Killed.......Prisoner of War........etc etc

Below is a copy of just “some” of the X-Lists a soldier could be placed on....their were also many more, but these were the standard lists:
