Assitance with RCAF Airman

Post by 78SqnHistory » Fri Mar 10, 2023 8:29 am

Does anyone have any information on the following airman:

R69581 M P LYNDON a Wireless Operator Air Gunner

He served with No. 78 Squadron from the summer of 1941 to early 1942. His initials may be N. P. and it is possible that he joined 405 Squadron in March of 1942 and was later commissioned whilst there.

Many thanks

Checked 405 Squadrons Ops Record Books, I couldn’t find anything for Feb/Mar 1942……then in April 42, found a F/Sgt Lyndon, record below, I’ll keep looking and see if I can confirm his Service Number in a later month

Thanks he is shown in the 405 Sqn ORB as N.P. But in the 78 Sqn ORB as M.P.

I’m pretty certain it’s the same man but would like to be certain.

I have now found, via another forum that he is Norman Philip Lyndon and was commissioned as J15814.

Does anyone have any information on him?

Thanks

Many thanks, I think I have tracked him down to Bracebridge, Ontario. It would appear that he died there in 1988. Born in North Grimsby in 1920.
