Corporal Brendan Anthony Downey, Military Police Branch

Post by BFBSM » Thu Jul 05, 2018 2:08 am

In honour of Corporal Brendan Anthony Downey, Military Police Branch, who died on July 4, 2008, at Camp Mirage, United Arab Emirates.
His body was found in the living quarters of Camp Mirage, a secret desert base at an undisclosed Gulf location used to stage Canadian airlifts to Afghanistan. Camp Mirage was not in the war zone, but was located in a friendly Arab state that does not want to officially acknowledge it was helping the west in the Afghanistan conflict.

His death is considered a non-combat causality and enemy action was ruled out. The investigation was turned over to the National Investigation Service. There have been four unspecified Canadian deaths in the Afghanistan War.
