WW2 Maps

Post by Temujin » Thu Apr 25, 2019 11:36 am

Continuing my discussion on Juno Beach Map Traces. An excellent source for maps, both WW1 and WW2 is the McMaster University website, where you can see and download many original maps.

Below is an example (only a small screen shot of the original map, which covers all of Canada) of the various airfields used by the RCAF during WW2 in Canada.

Here’s another map, from their excellent collection which was given to Canadian’s on leave in London. I’ve taken a screen shot showing the location of the “Beaver Club”

Last example I’ll post. This is a map of Caen, the circles with numbers are all the bridges in the city......but all where destroyed by the Germans during the capture of Caen, and many Royal Canadian Engineer Bailey Bridges were constructed over or next to the ruins of these bridges
