Greetings, have a couple more to throw out for some info. These Warriors are out of RCAF 412 Squadron

1) P/O William Robert Hughes, J/5483, RCAF, Carleton Place, Ontario, Canada, killed August 31, 1941. Looking for how he was killed, if in a spit, looking for serial number and what happened

2) Flt Sgt George Stanley Gould, R/71707, RCAF, Vernon, British Columbia, Canada killed April 10, 1942, While flying Spitfire AD305, he was flying escort to captured German aircraft when he had a mid air collision with Spitfire BL242 of the same squadron. Does anyone know who the pilot was of that Spitfire, and whether he survived or was also killed ???? Not picking up anything on the CWGC page

Hi, George Stanley Gould is my grandfather’s twin brother. Wanted to clarify he’s not from BC. He was from Swansea, Toronto.

I can imagine that’s quite a big task!
I’ve been trying to put together a bit of history on him and my grandfather Jack B. Gould who was also RCAF fighter pilot in WWII.
I’ll try to attach the info I found in George’s file regarding his death.

All the best,

Beth

What remarkable experiences or heroic actions did P/O Hughes and Flt Sgt Gould encounter during their service in RCAF 412 Squadron? Were they recognized for their contributions or bravery in any notable way?
