Post by georgetanksherman » Sun May 19, 2019 5:07 pm

Looking for info on RCAF, 401 Sqdn, LAC E.J. Lewis, R/53031, from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. records indicate that he was killed on June 7, 1941. Was wondering if anyone might know the cause of death. currently the only info I can find is what I have put above. Any help would be appreciated !

He is buried in the Scopwick, Lincolnshire, Cemetery in the United Kingdom.

Also looking for info on RCAF, 402 Sqdn, AC1 A.J. Asker, 1447285, RAFVR, Finsbury Park, Middlesex, England Was wondering if anyone might know the cause of death.

He is buried Chingford Mount Cemetery, Essex, England

Sorry, I can’t find anything for this record. He is RAF, so I do not have as much access to info on RAF people. Could find anything in their Operational Record Book

Temujin, I know we talked about R.A.F. and R.A.F.V.R. before, and realize that the info is not flowing on them, but it never hurts to ask :-) Appreciate all the info that you are able to send my way !

Have another Canadian out of RCAF 407 Sqdn

AC1 or is it A1C ??? Edward Roland Watson, R/89236, RCAF, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Aircraft Mechanic, but supposedly he has been doing some air ops, and was killed in action on one of these ops June 13, 1942. Presume it will be in a Lockheed Hudson as that is what the squadron was flying at the time. Do you or can you find out the serial number, my investigative skills have run dry ! :-) LOL

Aircraft was Hudson AM711

Aircraft was carrying practice bombs when it hit the mast of a wretched ship that was used for bombing practise. The Hudson crashed into the see and burned 5 miles off Selsey Bill, England. WS Patterson (Pilot), Sgts A.R. Thomas, A.N. Urquhart, G.J. Pearson and AC1 E.R. Watson and a RAF airman were all killed.

Info indicates E.R. Watson was flying as a “passenger”
