Looking for the proper home town for LAC Bardgett, CWGC and CVWM say it is Cremona, Alberta, Canada while Find-A-Grave says it is Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada. Any help solving this will truly be appreciated !

Wellington, HE971 & HZ371, July 6, 1943

Aircraft exploded on the ground in Tunisia which in turn caught fire to another Wellington Bomber HZ.731 which also exploded. Both aircraft were totally destroyed. Killing LAC Bardgett, the duty of LAC Bardgett was to "stand to" until take off prior to operations.

On the Ground:
LAC N.L. Bardgett, R/160730, RCAF, Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada "OR" Cremona, Alberta, Canada

At time of enlistment on 14 April 1942, lived in Cremona, AB with his parents and two brothers and a sister.

At some point, after 1952 when the CWGC made up their database, the family moved back to BC.

His father died in Arras, BC aged 92 in 1983 and mother passed in Cranbrook aged 87 in 1988.

Thanks for that info, so those the "stand to" order mean that LAC N.L. Bardgett was like a military police, security member or just a mechanic or armourer assigned to watch over an armed aircraft ????

Again "Thank You" for the info … Also "Happy New Year" !!!!! :-)

Same to you and yours, George.

I wondered the same thing. On most bases when an aircraft was guarded it was RAF Service Police who did the guarding, not a solitary LAC.

Anyway, a horrible way to go. I didn't post the description of his injuries, but you can imagine.

Well, because it did not directly say what he was , other that "Stand To" order, I figured I would ask in case I missed something, but with two aircraft exploding, I can just imagine the injuries !!!!

Thanks for the info !!!!
