The Canadian Virtual War Memorial has him as Georges Harry Labelle (note the s on Georges).

No PDF file online for his record,

http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/m ... ber=40393&

You would be able to request his record from the LAC, instructions on that here.

It seems at that point the unit was designated,

'2nd (Reserve) Battalion, Le Régiment de Châteauguay (Mitrailleuses)' on 16 March 1942

There's this roll of casualties for the unit on WW2Talk but he's not on it, only a handful before 1943, listed as Died and Suicide. There is one in late February of 1942,

PTE LEVESQUE EMERIC Died 27/2/42

Hey George, he died of TB.......he also served in the 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles Regiment in World War One, and with Royal Canadian Regiment as part of the Permanent Force (after WW1).

Attached are his WW1 and WW2 records, WW2 records are in French as he joined the Royal 22nd Regiment, which is a French Speaking regiment in the Canadian Military

By his WW1 and WW2 records do you mean his attestations or did PDF's not attach properly? Great research by the way.

His records show his attestations......I’ll copy his WW1 here, but on the previous records, it shows his Attestation for the Permanent Force (in 1922) and his Attestation for WW2

Also his WW1 Attestation shows he was in teh 65th Regiment and another unit PRIOR to enlisting for the CEF

There are a LOT more. I only downloaded the pages that confirmed his Attestation and his death. If you’d like to see his WW1 records, go to this link

https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/ ... ber=503912

His WW2 records are available on Ancestry.ca

Ancestry has ALL Canadian Military records who “died in service” during WW2........BUT, Ancestry has an “abbreviated copy” of the rocords, they don’t have the complete file for each man.
