Post by georgetanksherman » Mon Jan 22, 2024 9:20 pm

Greetings Everyone,

Not sure if anyone can help, but you don't really know unless you ask. Been working on Americans involved in Operation Jubilee, Dieppe, France Raid on August 19, 1942.

I have a R.C.A.F. P/O David L. Rogan, J/8220, Middlesboro, Kentucky, U.S.A. that was flying with R.A.F. No. 13 Squadron flying Bristol Blenheims, mission to lay smoke, and bomb Anti-Aircraft positions with Phosphorous bombs, looking to find out which Blenheim P/O Rogan was flying, and who his crew was, if known, there were 6 of No.13 Squadron Blenheims Flying that day, Z6089, Z5811, V5380 (F.T.R.), Z5882, Z6558 and Z3545.

V5380 was shot down off Dieppe by Flak whilst laying a smokescreen, Pilot: P/O C.L. Woodland, RAFVR, Observer: Sgt A.S. Boyd, RAFVR, and Gunner: Sgt H.G. Neville, RNZAF, all 3 crew members K.I.A. - May they R.I.P. !

Crews Unknown:
Z6089 Damaged off Dieppe by A/A fire after laying the smoke screen, crash landed at Thruxton, crew safe.
Z5811
Z5882
Z6558
Z2545

Appreciate if someone can lend a helping hand, if info is available ! P/O David L. Rogan after flying 13 missions with RAF No. 13 Sqdn transferred to USAAF, Assigned to 358th BS, (B-17's) 303rd BG, 8 AF, then shipped to the Pacific B-29 Group, 9th BG, 20th AF.

Cheers

George

Temujin,

Thanks for the info on P/O Rogan, been working on the Dieppe Operation for a few weeks now, with your help helping me find the Americans in the Army Units and RCAF/RAF. I have names for 222 Americans involved in this operation, RAF/RCAF/USAAF (91), Most in Eagle Squadrons, Canadian/British/American Army (131), Most in Essex Scottish Regiment and American Army Rangers.

Really appreciate the help !

Hope things are going well, recovery seems to be going well, still stuck going to P.T., but we think end is near :-) Yea !

All the Best to you and your family, and "Happy New Year" :-)

George

Happy New Year to you and your family George. I’m glad your road to recovery is going well, that’s very good to hear.

Unfortunately, I’ve had a set back (yesterday)…….I’ll send you a PM with what’s happening with me

Cheers
