Finally catching up with all your discovery - many thanks to you both

Fired off many enquiries and will be visiting ottawa to do more research.
I hope there is a report from his superior as to how he died so that could have been communicated to his surviving mother.

New discovery
BARRETTE, Paul Emile. Pte. D.63008. 571 Iberville St., Montreal, Que. son of Joseph Barrette
he came up in my research on my great grandfather Paul Barrette -D-15141 .

Oddly enough I find nothing other than news clipping saying he went from missing in action to prisoners of war during Dieppe Raid
....weird...
my own dad kept telling me that our uncle died on Dieppe yet it was on D-day then this fellow shows up with a dad Joseph Barrette living 571 Iberville St., Montreal, ... my dad`s father was Joseph !!!

PREVIOUSLY. REPORTED MISSING,
NOW REPORTED PRISONER
OF WAR.
Regiment de Quebec.

Salut Pierre-Aldric,

Tres heureux de voir ton site The Beaver Sam !

Thank you gentlemen for all your work and research.

Looks like the typical archives will not yield what platoon he belong to on Dday and how he died.

My next move is to retrace the available testimonies of those from his regiment who live to tell the story of wht happened that day.
So I`ll survey the net for just that.

I`ll create profiles of each and will eventually include them in my story.

Just a quick recap that I`m hoping to write a story on my great uncle return to France as a descendant of his ancestor who left the same area in 1646 to colonize New France.

Still looking for how Paul Emile Barrette D 63008 POW 25540 returned home after the Polish camp liberation, if at all.
Cannot find trace of him back in Quebec post war - found his parents who married in 1913 so he was likley born in 1914 - oldest.

Thanks
