Vehicle Marking……this is the Unit Serial given to the 85 Cdn Bridge Company, which would be displays on their vehicles

A quick note. A RCASC Bridging Companies JOB was to move Bridge Materials from the rear area to the front so that Royal Canadian Engineers could then build bridges (normally Bailey Bridge).

BUT, the Company was also trained in building Bailey Bridges, so in an emergency they could be used by themselves to build bridges.

They also were used to “take apart” bridges which were no longer needed for the offensive, so the bridge parts could be used again in another river Assualt or to allow supplies to move forward over blown bridges.
