Re: Raymond Collishaw in WW2

Oh, nice! If you are interesting in finding more titles to add to your section (or are just interested), you might take a look at the "Juno Beach and Beyond" podcast which the Juno Beach Centre is now making. I haven't listened to all the episodes, but I learned a lot about arms manufacture and the ...

Raymond Collishaw in WW2

If someone mentions the name Raymond Collishaw and you know something about the airplanes, what would come to mind is probably his performance as a fighter pilot and squadron leader in WW1. I thought of this recently when the War Museum tweeted(!) something about the air war in 1918 with a quote fro...

Re: 1st Canadian Centaur Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery

I transcribed a report of those Centaurs' performance (as the Royal Marines Armoured Support Group) during Operation Overlord a while back:

Re: Another artillery question

Sorry Temujin, I shouldn't have mixed my questions. The one about 21 Army Group documents doesn't stem from 7th AT Reg't - it originates much higher up.

Re: Another artillery question

Ahh, so the LAD number was mentioned in the WD? I should have thought of that. Thank you very much!!

edited PS: hm, so the LAD documents were not part of the digitization effort, apparently...? I don't see them in the spreadsheet, but I found their file entries in the LAC database. :)

Re: Another artillery question

Thanks! I'm going to look into those even if I don't expect to learn anything new. Because I might!

I don't have much hope of finding particular correspondence either. I've filed a request for help with LAC but it could be some time before I get an answer.

Re: Another artillery question

Thanks temujin, that's wonderfully informative as always! I did not know about the artillery trailer in between quad and gun. I have access to the spreadsheet which I think you have taken a screenshot from so no worries there. I wasn't looking for a specific unit, it was more that I came across a co...

Another artillery question

In 1944 were Canadian units in 21st Army Group using our locally-made CMP FATs to tow artillery, or the British Morrises? I would assume our units were using Canadian ones, but... I don't like to assume. It seems odd that when I search LAC online, they don't have any photos of the CMP vehicles - but...

Re: A question about LADs for you lads

Woah, that's a lot of information :) But I guess it's easier to cut & paste the whole kit and kaboodle. This does of course answer my question and it's quite interesting. I see that 35 Cdn LAD (assigned to 3rd Canadian AT) already was a Type D. Will have to see what more I can glean from this when I...

A question about LADs for you lads

Hi all, I was going over a document talking about adopting the Archer (Valentine SP) for Canadian use, and it says: "The implications of this recommendation from the RCEME standpoint are (a) LAD (D) for infantry division anti-tank regiments would be required in place of the present LAD (A)." I under...
