Re: Greetings from Warwickshire

George, thanks, we discussed Sherman at the start of this thread. I think I have found another American in the name of Arthur Frederick WORRALL. I am in touch with a lady whose father served as a Flight Engineer and always used to bring two of his crew home on leave with him, one was a Canadian from...

Re: Greetings from Warwickshire

George,

He was sent to Linton Station having completed 16 operations including the ditching in the sea of his aircraft on the night of 20/21 December 1942. I have not been able to find out what he went on to do.

Regards

Re: Percy Edwin Spence DFC

Thank you both for your posts, very helpful. I can explain the missing Frankfurt operation, it was on the 2nd December 1942 and the crew aborted the mission as the port inner engine became unserviceable, bombs were jettisoned safe in the sea and they safely returned to base on 3 engines. Once again ...

Re: Greetings from Warwickshire

Great work and some great pictures, its a shame about the quality of the original newspaper photo as their is a 78 Squadron chap in it Squadron Leader Robert Irwin Trickett DFC who flew with both 78 and 35 Squadrons and remained in the RCAF after the war.

Re: Greetings from Warwickshire

George,

Here is another one which I have come across during my research:

Flight Sergeant William Sorg RCAF a pilot from Westmount Ave, Pittsburg, PA.

He was flying in an Anson from 1 GRS which ditched in the sea and had a chap who went on to serve with 78 Squadron.
