The midship house was where the passanger cabins where, the 4 lifeboats where on the deck above the cabins. So when the fire threatened the lifeboats the decision was made to abandon ship.

Hi again could you please look for REMMAREN, some of the crew arrived to Gothenburg onboard her. I have been guessing she picked them up in England. I can not find that she participated in any convoy but she sailed frequently untill she was mined outside Norway in 1943.

This is Swedish Colombia, built 1930's. She made 15,2 knots thus maybe truting the Swedish flag and the speed to go outside the convoys. Could it be her in the war diary?

The "Tunaholm" suposedly picked up the survivors and later some where transfered to "Gullmaren". But I have not found more info on this.
