In one article about him it said he transferred to the Royal Canadian Service Corps. Which sounds closer to what he told my uncle about transporting prisoners and petrol.
Any tips on how to find more about which unit he transferred to?

I ordered his military records at the beginning of November but who knows when I will get that.
I attached the 3 photos of him from his time in the army. One is of his unit sorry about the reflection on it of course its all framed nicely.
