Re: No. 47 General Transport Company, RCASC

Here is the record of his embarkation. You are correct Filip. The records indicate that he was with the 2nd HAA Regt (except for a “few” attachments to other units for a short time frame) until 1st Apr 1942. I’m still looking to see if I can find him on a “embarkation nominal roll”.....but haven’t ...

Re: No. 47 General Transport Company, RCASC

I thought it strange that he did not sail with the unit as well, but in the records, he was never transferred, just given embarkation leave. Thank you for the photo!

Re: No. 47 General Transport Company, RCASC

Actually, anything you can give me on his dates of transfer between units etc. Their are war diaries available for other units, and i might be able to find info on him. Also, you said he “embarked” for England on the 12th Dec 1941....and you thought it was convoy HX164. This convoy “left” Halifax o...

Re: No. 47 General Transport Company, RCASC

Thanks. Let me see what I can find so far. As you know, the War Dairies of the 47th are not online yet, so to see them you would have to go to LAC Ottawa. But let me see what is available Cheers Thank you for searching. I had a look through his records and did not see anything that would further th...

Re: No. 47 General Transport Company, RCASC

He embarked for England on December 12, 1941, and arrived at Liverpool on December 23, 1941. I believe his ship may have joined Convoy HX. 164. He was at the time a driver with the Canadian 2nd Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment. On May 7, 1942, he was assigned to the 61st Transport Company, which became ...

Re: No. 47 General Transport Company, RCASC

Thank you for your help! I appreciate the document. He embarked for England on December 12, 1941, and arrived at Liverpool on December 23, 1941. I am guessing his ship was in Convoy HX. 164. When he arrived he was a driver with the Canadian 2nd Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment. He was transferred to the...

No. 47 General Transport Company, RCASC

My Great-Granduncle served in the No. 47 General Transport Company, RCASC, during World War II. I am looking for more on this unit. I know it was a transport unit of the First Canadian Army, landed at Juno June 9, and served in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. I would be forever grateful if I ...
