TODAY IN CANADIAN MILITARY HISTORY
1941 - Oberleutnant Franz von Warrna escapes from a train near Smiths Falls, ON (23-24 January 1941) and returns to Europe: he is believed to be the only Axis prisoner of war from Canada to make it back across the Atlantic.
